White Magic - About Borovets
Established at the end of the 19th century as a hunting place for the Bulgarian tzars, Borovets has developed into a modern ski resort with an excellent network of ski runs and lifts along the slopes of the Rila Mountain. It is very accessible, being only 73 km from Sofia and 126 km from Plovdiv. The town of Samokov is only 10 km from the resort.
From from November to May, the slopes of Borovets have a permanent snow cover of more than 1.5 m. These provide excellent opportunities for a whole range of winter sports, ranging from:
- Alpine sports to cross-country skiing
- Ski-jumping to biathlon
The resort has twice hosted World Cup Alpine skiing rounds and its biathlon track is one of the best in the world. Runs within the resort are suitable for:
- A range of skills from beginners to experts
- Snowboarding and Skiing
The slopes and runs are maintained in perfect condition and are designated with international markings and multilingual signs.
